Some questions have straightforward answers. Others stay with us: the private dilemmas, social uncertainties and curious little preoccupations that cannot be settled by a search engine.

Sometimes what we need is another mind—a different perspective, an honest opinion, or simply the reassurance that our question has been taken seriously.

Ask Bee is a new series in which you can ask me about absolutely anything: love, friendship, family, work, books, art, interiors, clothes, manners, travel, ageing, loneliness, disappointment—or the strange question that has been circling your mind for weeks.

Nothing is too serious, too small, too intellectual or too frivolous. I cannot promise a definitive answer, but I can promise to consider every question carefully and respond as honestly, thoughtfully and humanely as I can.
